It seems that there are almost as many myths for why people get acne and how to get rid of it these days as people who actually have acne. This should help straighten out a number of common myths that are floating around out there in relation to acne. The main thing to remember is that aside from genetic disposition, most rumors and remedies are not backed very extensively and could probably be ignored without a problem.
Myth #1: Acne is Associated With a Poor Diet
Many studies have shown that diet and acne breakouts are in no way related. The Journal of the American Medical Association reported that there is no relation to diet and acne breakouts. Many people love to believe that eating greasy foods will cause breakouts. There just isn’t any proof to back up this claim. If staying away from certain foods makes you feel better about yourself including your complexion, then avoid whatever foods you want. The fact remains: eating certain foods has nothing to do with acne breakouts.
Myth #2: Acne Will Go Away In Time
While it is true that the body becomes accustomed to increased hormone levels and fluctuations in them, there are better ways to deal with acne. Acne can always be treated and most of the time can be cleared up by either seeing a dermatologist or using a product that has been shown to eliminate acne. Two such products are benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Both of these products will aid in skin cells shedding properly and oil to be removed safely, without irritation. Both of these are better options than letting acne run its course. Using one of these products will lessen the number of blemishes produced and will limit the number of scars that form from blemishes.
Myth #3: The Cause of Acne is Poor Hygiene
Yes, keeping pores clean and preventing them from becoming blocked will greatly help in reducing break outs. The problem arises when someone thinks that the more they wash their face the clearer their skin will be or that dirt and oil will automatically cause acne to form on the face. When skin gets irritated by too much scrubbing and washing acne will actually worsen instead of get better. Irritating skin with activities like excessive scrubbing and washing will irritate the skin causing the signs of acne to become worse and may even prolong them. A much better option is not to use scrubs but use soaps and gently lather and wash the affected area and pat dry with a clean cloth.
Myth #4: Stress Causes Acne Breakouts
There really is no evidence to back this claim at all. When we look at the average amount of stress that is experienced everyday or even slight peaks of stress, acne has no connection. Oftentimes an acne breakout may cause someone’s stress levels to increase but does not cause a break out at all.
Myth #5: Acne is Contagious
There is absolutely nothing that you can do that would cause someone to get acne or give acne to another person. This rumor may have been started for a variety of reasons but the fact of the matter is that acne is not transferable.
Myth #6: Only Teenagers Can Get Acne
The vast majority of people with acne happen to be teenagers who are going through changes in their body that cause the pores to get irritated and this irritation manifests as acne. But, teenagers ARE NOT the only group of people that are plagued by acne. Many people that are in their 30’s, 40’s, or even older may suffer from acne in some form or another. About half of all women will continue or start to get acne later in life. Even one in four males will also continue to get acne. The reason women may continue to have acne past their teenage years is because women’s hormone levels continue to fluctuate even after puberty. With relation to ovulation every month, women have spikes in their hormone levels that continue to throw off the body and acne is one way the body reacts to hormonal changes or imbalances.
Myth #7: Exposure to the Sun Clears Up Acne
This myth may have started because the sun’s UV rays will stimulate melanocyte activity in the dermis of the skin and cause the skin to become darker and seem to make acne disappear. The truth is that the acne does not go away; the acne will only blend in better and look less unsightly. Many people are afraid to apply sunscreen because of the belief that sunscreen will trigger an acne breakout. Overexposure to the sun is much more damaging in the long run than a few blemishes are to one’s self esteem. When the skin peels due to excessive sun exposure there may be more blocked pores and more acne because of it. So the lesson is: do not damage your skin through too much sun exposure in hopes to clear up acne; use an oil-free sunscreen that is also non-comedogenic. A non-comedogenic sunscreen won’t cause pores to clog.
#1 Acnexus
Acnexus is the highest rated acne solution we have seen. It is a 1-step acne solution that contains all-natural ingredients. No crazy chemical that dry or irritate your skin. Customers absolutely love the results. Most reviewers of the product mention how amazing their skin looks and feels after using it, not to mention how effective the acne solution is in clearing up the worst cases of acne. The best part is that it's incredibly easy to use (only 1-step) and very affordable for those on a tight budget.
#2 Bruunhause
Bruunhause is an intensive acne solution that was developed by a medicinal laboratory that researches & develops internal and topical acne cures. What makes Bruunhause so unique is that it uses a combination of Mother Nature's most powerful herbal acne treatments in the world's first H 3 O hydronium based solution. The end result is, in our oppinion, the most powerful topical acne treatment ever developed. Bruunhause was the only acne treatment to receive a 100/100 on acne fighting power. There are rumors that it may contain the prescription ingredient Adapalene (a topical retinoid approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1996) which has one bad side effect of drying out the skin. We don't believe these rumors since Bruunhause works without drying out the users face one bit. We believe these rumors only surfaced because of the extreme effectiveness of Bruunhause. It is expected to be taken off the market so finding bottles in the U.S. is rare.
